Envisat II

Showing the VCD of O3 in a geo-located map. Ozone VCD (absorbers vertical column density) are plotted as a function of geo-location for one day of measurements. This plot allows to detect any non-nominal behavior of O3 distribution.

The Michelson Interferometer for Passive Atmospheric Sounding (MIPAS) spectrometer .Atmospheric Chemistry and Temperature. Detection of limb emission spectra in the middle and upper atmosphere. It observes a wide spectral interval throughout the mid infrared(MWIR) with high spectral resolution. Detects and spectrally resolves a large number of emission features of atmospheric minor constituents playing a major role in atmospheric chemistry.

This image shows ammonia distributions over Europe in 2008, as measured by the Infrared Atmospheric Sounding Interferometer (IASI) instrument on the MetOp satellite. The image has been superimposed over an image acquired by the MODIS instrument. The yellow to red colours indicate areas with high concentrations of ammonia. The white structures are clouds.
